Since we are paying for our daughter's wedding is it reasonable to ask the grooms family to invite fewer guests (than we do) if we get into a numbers crunch?

Dear Lomakk,

Actually since parents are no longer financially responsible for their children's weddings, they no longer invite or plan--even if they contribute. So, the couple chooses the guest list. They decide how many guests the parents can invite.
