     Invitation wording for ex-step father?

My fiance would like to include his ex step father on the invitation even though he cannot attend nor is he helping with the wedding. How would we word this? So far our invitation wording is as follows:

Jane Doe
daughter of Sally Doe,
and
Joe Smith
son of Mary Smith,
cordially invite you......

Would I put:
son of Mary Smith,
and stepson of John Taylor?

Dear Invitation,

Yes, you would. My questions is, "How does his mother feel about this?" If this is going to upset her, why do it?

Best wishes,

His ex step father has been a part of his life since he was born and are still in touch. His mother is still friends with him, so she actually suggested putting his name on it.

Great! Then as long as everyone is happy about it, go for it.
