Inviting wedding guests in long-term relationships.

I have been in a long-term relationship for the past two years. My boyfriend and I will be moving in together in two months. I recently received a wedding invitation that was just addressed to me. There was no "and guest" on the invitation. We will be living together by the date of the wedding. I feel this is very inconsiderate that my boyfriend was not invited. I was wondering if this is proper wedding etiquette? Shouldn't people in long-term relationships be allowed to bring their significant other?

Dear Wedding,

Yes, you should have been offered a guest. But, you weren't. So, it would be impolite to ask or to bring him.

Perhaps this person didn't know about your long term boyfriend. Or, this person doesn't know what is proper. But, in any case, we can't force others to do what is considered proper.

Best wishes,
