Is it considered rude to only invite the cousins and omit the second cousins?

I have a lot of cousins and they each have several children. Although I would love for my little second cousins to attend, the reception would just be too expensive if they did. Would it be considered rude to only invite their parents especially when my nephews and my fiance's nieces and nephews will be there?

Thank you for your advice.

Dear Is It Considered Rude,

You can invite anyone you wish to your wedding. However, if you invite some children and not others the parents will be offended. So, in essence it is impolite to do so.

Best wishes,
