I volunteer at Canadian Blood Services and both my fiancé and I support this organization through many donations (blood) throughout the year. I would like to put a note in our invitation to invite/encourage my guests to make a charitable blood donation in honour of our wedding. We will be getting married in November, which is also, “Donate red to support our troops” month. We are also in the military! All information will be provided, (how to donate).
Do you think that this is tacky?

Re: Listing Charity in Wedding Invitations

Dear Valboyer,
No it isn't tacky and it is inspiring. But, it isn't proper to mention anything about gifts in the invitation. And, we shouldn't assume that our guests would want to donate to charities we support. The best way to do this is to list the charity on a wedding website if you have one and/or to inform guests when they ask what you'd like for your wedding gift.
