Mentioning menu on the wedding invitation

This is 2nd weddings for both me and my fiancée. We are wanting something very simple and informal. We would like to have cake and punch and maybe appetizers after a church ceremony. Then take immediate family (moms, dads, brothers/sisters) and maid of honor and best man out for dinner. How do we word that this is only a cake, punch and appetizers reception?

Thanks,

Lisam

Dear Lisam,

This is appropriate only because you are paying for the dinners of immediate family and attendants--very good.

This wouldn't be mentioned on the invitation. Just schedule your wedding during a time when guests wouldn't be expecting more than a cake and beverage reception. The appetizers would be a surprise. 10 am-11 am and 2 pm-3 pm are perfect times to schedule this. You could even have this anywhere between those times if the event was no more than 2 hours long.

Best wishes,
