     Mother's maiden name

Hello,

My sister-in-law is helping her soon-to-be daughter-in-law w/ invitations. Here's the deal. My sis in law (the mother of the groom) IS MARRIED to the father of the groom BUT wants to list her maiden name on the invitation. How can she do that? I'm thinking:

..........son of

Mr. John Shafer and Mrs. Cynthia Smith Shafer

but that wounds like they're divorced. How can she include her maiden name. Any expert advice. I guess this would apply for those married women w/ hyphenated names? Don't know.

Dear Wife and mom,

There really is no other way except the example you have chosen. It will have to be written that way.

Best wishes,

What is the reason for listing her maiden name? Just wondering...makes it much more difficult. Is this the name she goes by and people know her as?

I would simply use the name everyone knows her by to relieve confusion.
