I received a wedding invitation from a cousin who lives in a distant state and whom I have not seen for many years. The wording is definitely one of "John and Mary invite you", but no RSVP is requested and no RSVP card is enclosed. I am confused as whether this is really intended as an invitation, or whether it is intended as more as an announcement. My cousin does not have many living relatives, and I would like to go to celebrate this event with him, but I am concerned that I am not really expected. Advice please!
If the invitation says that you are invited, then you are. Since the invitation uses informal language, you could use informal language letting him know that you will attend.
Re: [Et.byRebecca] No RSVP Card included

Thank you very much, Rebecca. I wanted to be certain there was no "unwritten rule" that if no RSVP was requested, it was to be understood as an announcement. You have set my mind at ease.
