My fiance and I are having our wedding ceremony in Italy in April 2005 and then having another reception in the States when we return in May. I want to send out invitations early in case people would like to make the European trip. Do I include two response cards: one for Italy, and one for the US? Or can I put both on same response card with a place to check for either one or both? And what kind of "respond by" date do I use?

Dear Confused,
I believe that it would be best to enclose two response cards and keep the reply date the same as you would for the wedding. You will need to know how many will be attending the reception before you leave for your wedding.

I would like to send invitations out in November for the April 30th wedding. If I'm going to use the same date on both response cards... what should that date be? I know it is usually within a month of the wedding. But since wedding is in another country, we need extra time to book hotels and make accomodations. - Larissa

I can't tell you the exact date to mention, because I cannot make that decision for you. I suppose that you will have to make the date around the beginning of the new year to give your guests time to schedule transportation and lodging. Destination weddings always come with their own set of problems and solutions. We definitely have to think outside the box. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
