I am helping my SIL design her wedding invitations. In her invitation, she would like to acknowledge the mothers since they are the ones organizing everything. For her wording, she would like to have the following phrase for the parents' names:
Mr. and Mrs. John and Elizabeth Doe
I use to be a graphic designer so I remember a little about etiquette but have never come across something like this. I know you traditionally always use only the father's full name, but what if they want the mothers included? Would you cross out the Mr. and Mrs., and just use "John and Elizabeth Doe"? Or is this incorrect also because the female's name always comes first? Maybe it is "Mrs. Elizabeth and Mr. John Doe"?
Thanks for your help!!!

Dear Tx,
You could either use: Mr. and Mrs. Elizabeth and John Doe or Elizabeth and John Doe. But, if this is a formal wedding, she would have to use the traditional Mr. and Mrs. John Doe.
