Parents on Invitations when hosting rehearsal dinner only

What are the rules for including parents on the wedding invitation? The groom and I are hosting the entire wedding except for the rehearsal dinner. Should our parents be included on the invitations? If so, the groom has step-parents. How should that be worded?

Thank you.

Dear Twiggypt,

They are usually listed as host when they are hosting (paying for) the wedding. They may be listed under your names as, daughter/son of. The step parents don't need to be listed.

Best wishes,
