Party/reception to honor couple after wedding date
My daughter was married in a church wedding in another state (where she currently lives) two months ago. Some of my friends here (where my daughter grew up in our family) want to give a party honoring my daughter and her new husband. The emphasis will be on having the guests meet the husband whom no one from here knows. Is the wording "meet and greet" appropriate? Should the word "party" or the word "reception" be used? It will be a Sunday afternoon, informal, 3:00-5:00 gathering at the home of one of the hostesses - just coffee, punch and cake - a nice way for our friends here, who were unable to attend the wedding, to meet the groom and celebrate the marriage. Can you help with the wording of the invitation?
Thank you!

Dear Snowmommie,
The couple would have to be in agreement with this party before planning begins. If they agree, it could be called an informal reception for the bride and groom. This is not a gift giving event. Please, no mention of gifts should be included with the invitations.
