Post type of reception & gift registry info in invitation?
My daughter is formatting and printing up her own invitations to her wedding using a computer program on my computer. I saw an invitation in which at the bottom of the wedding invitation she had noted that a reception with light refreshments and dancing would be following. I told her I thought the "light refreshments and dancing" part was unnecessary. Today I saw that she had moved reception information to her direction's map (reception is being held a short distance from the church ceremony); along with gift registry information in very small print at the bottom. This also I understand should not be included.
So I have a couple questions here. The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on a Friday night. There will be appetizer's served to guests as they arrive for the reception while everyone waits for the bridal party to finish after ceremony photos. Then a buffet dinner will be served which could possibly around 8:30 p.m. depending how long it takes for the bridal party to arrive. Following that will be the cake-cutting, cake being served, bridal bouquet/garter toss, and dancing until midnight. Should guests be formally told on the invitation what kind of food and entertainment the reception will include? And while I am on the subject, is dinner appropriate that late at night? Since she has decided to have a buffet dinner served inaddition to the appetizers and cake, she has now noted on the directions that her reception will include dinner and dancing. I have told her I think that specific information is unnecessary and I have personally never seen that information included, but I can see how it might be helpful to guests to know. Does it matter?
Lastly, it is my understanding that gift registry ideas should not be disclosed anywhere in the wedding invitation but may be enclosed on shower invitations? Or is it just by word of mouth for both? Thank you.
