     Reception Invitation Wording

My son is getting married in Hawaii in July. The bride's father is paying for the couple's marriage and honeymoon. The bride's family lives 5 hours away from the goom's family. The couple wants to have a reception in the groom's hometown. Groom's parents are paying for a reception there. The bride's father does not want the invitation to have reception on it. He wants us to use the word celebration in place of reception. He says it is embarrassing to him since he is not paying for it. Bride's parents are going to have a dinner honoring couple where they live after groom's parents' reception. How should we word this invitation for reception?

Dear Cinderellausa,

This is no reflection on the bride's father. In fact, it really has nothing to do with him. If the couple wishes to have a reception in your home town, and you wish to host it, the invitation should be for a wedding reception. Wedding celebration is confusing and most wouldn't understand what the party is.

It shouldn't be listed on the wedding invitation, as it doesn't immediately follow the wedding. It should be a separate invitation.

Best wishes,
