I know that asking for charitable donations instead of gifts is borderline bad taste (it is still asking for money, in a sense).
My fiance and I would rather do this than register and impose on our friends for gifts.
We're considering the words "The future bride and groom respectfully request, in lieu of gifts, a donation of any amount to their favorite charities." Then we will list our four favorite charities with addresses. (This would be a seperate insert included with the invitiation.)
Our weding will be informal, but we are inviting approximatley 150 guests.
Will this wording work? Or is asking for donations on the invitations not feasible?

Dear Kristen,
This is so true, even if we use inserts. But, you could state this on your wedding website as long as it isn't on the first page. And, the tried and true method is to spread the word of your wishes by word of mouth.
