Following our destination wedding, we are hosting at our home a 'reception' of sorts. I hesitate to call it that because it sounds so formal. It's more of a celebration of our marriage with family and friends. It will be very casual and laid back.
We are planning an Oyster Roast complete with oysters, Low Country Boil, Pulled Pork, and various sides.
While most of the food can be refrigerated, frozen or otherwise eaten as leftovers (so not worried about an exact number for caterer), the oysters are another story. If not cooked and eaten, they do not keep. So, I need a fair estimate of the number of guests who will eat the oysters.
This is how I structured my response card:
the favour of a reply is requested
M_____________
___accepts ___enjoys oysters
___regrets
Please respond by date.
(I'd be happy to just have a yes/no if I can't get a specific number!)
I did set up a wedding website with pages for the wedding, the reception (with what food we'll have, the beverages, entertainment, etc.), hotel information, directions, and fun things to see and do in our town. Directions and hotel info will be on a separate enclosure in the invitation and the website address will be at the bottom of said enclosure. (Note - NO registry information is listed anywhere on anything having to do with the wedding or reception!).
I'm worried that people with think that only oysters are available based on the response card! But if they go to the website, they'll see they have lots of options - even a few I didn't list in this post.
Sorry for such a lengthy post! But thank you for any help you can give me!

Re: [tljinsc] Repsonse Card Wording Inclouding Menu

Dear Tljinsc,
It may be best to leave oysters off the response card and just assume your guests love them. I know if I didn't, my husband would consume my share. It may be the same in most cases.
We do give guests choices on our response cards these days, but I agree that your guests may think you are only providing oysters.
