     Return Address on Invitations

I am wondering if anyone knows whether or not a return address is supposed to be put on wedding invitations. I cannot find the answer to this anywhere. If so, where on the invitation should it be placed?

I do believe that the invitations that I ordered have the return address on the very back flap of the outer envelope.

A return address is required by US law for mailing any letters in the United States.

Dear Return Address,

Yes, a return address is required and many invitation envelopes have the address 'lines' on the back flap of the envelope. This is where we usually write the return address for formal invitations. However, the postal office would rather for us to write the address on the front of the invitation just as we do for all of our correspondences.

Best wishes,
