5 months until big day and questions about save the date announcements and invitations:
1) How do I tell my guests that they have to RSVP or else they wont be fed? I am having a seated dinner and will not accommodate people who did not rsvp....$85 per person is a bit much for surprise guests.
2) I want an adult reception but I dont want the out of town parents who traveled with kids or the parents of the children who are a part of our special day to be excluded. Can I have it both ways?
3)I have not confirmed my church, only the reception venue. People need to make travel arrangements. Should I send save the date cards or just send the invitation 2-3 months early? I am afraid people may forget if they dont have a reminder closer to the date.
Sorry for the length of this one but they were all indirectly related.

Dear Save the Date,
1) You would include menu choices on your response card and a tight RSVP date with your invitations.
2) You can have it both ways if you provide a room and babysitter for the children.
3) Yikes, 5 months from your wedding date and you don't have the wedding venue secured? You may be taking a big chance here. You would want to send those Save the Date cards now. I'm guessing the reason you mentioned the cards and venue at the same time was because of a space issue. So, you may also wish to call these people to find out if they may be able to attend.

Please don't offer consequesences to your guests if they don't respond by the RSVP date. This will make you look just as rude as they will.
Be sure to get your church on board with the date or you ight just find yourself getting married in the park (only terrible if you don't mind an outdoor wedding I suppose)! Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
