What is the procedure for holding an open reception? My fiance is a golf pro and wants to have an open reception so that all of the members of the golf course would be invited (over 1000 members). Obviously they will not all attend, and the reception is in the early afternoon so it will just be cake and cocktails, therefore seating is not a problem. Do we need to send out invitations to every person or do we depend on word of mouth? What should we do? Thank you!

If there is a news letter for the golf course, that would be a good choice because this is a very informal affair. You could also post it. 1000 people? You are very brave.
