Too late to send wedding invitations to guests we forgot to include

Invitations have long been sent, but my Mother just informed me that she has forgotten relatives that she now wants to invite. I think it would be tacky to send them an invite this late. The wedding is only 3.5 weeks away!! How should I handle this?

Dear Adncat,

It is too late and it may be viewed as if they are on a 'B' list. So, they may be insulted. But, if you want them to attend and can afford it, you could, possibly, do this politely. Perhaps you could verbally invite them saying that you accidently misplaced a few invitations and unfortunately theirs was in the mix. Yes, a white lie. But, it isn't insulting and is the only way I can think of to do this politely.

If it were me, I'd probably wouldn't invite them at this time.

Best wishes,
