My fiance and I are paying for our wedding with help from my parents. Because we have a limited budget we limited the guest list to close family and ended up with a guest list of nearly 100 people. My fiance's family is much smaller than mine and his family is insiting that he should be allowed to invite more distant relatives and friends while I stick to the original limit. This is very upsetting to me because I am close to many of my mroe distant relatives and I feel like Im being punished for having a large family. What can I do to fix the situation?

Dear Ministwo,
They may ask, but you two decide who is invited to your wedding. When the guest list is limited, we usually limit the family to those who are very close to us--usually immediate family.
It may be best for your fiance to speak to his parents.

I agree. Thank them for their valuable input, but have your fiance explain to them that within the constraints of the budget available to you, you have already decided jointly how to prioritize the guest list and leave it at that.
