Use of first names while addressing inner envelopes

My parents are paying for the wedding and the invitation reflects such, i.e., "Mr. and Mrs. John Doe request the honour of your presence. . .", etc. My mother has graciously offerred to address said invites. Does she address all inner envelopes with Mr. and Mrs. Doe or use first names, Joe and Mary, on the invites to her friends? What about the invites to my and my fiancees friends? Thanks again!

Your mother has taken a big job off your hands and I'm glad that you appreciate it. The inner envelopes should reflect the names of those invited as in Mr. and Mrs. Josephson.

Agreed. Now if this person is very close, your mother may use a nick name, such as Uncle John. This is fine as well. Other than that we should be more formal.
