Variation for Addressing Inner Wedding Invitation Envelope
I am sure you hope this is my last question regarding invitations and I sincerely hope it is too. I have seen different advice (on this site and others) regarding how to address the inner envelope.
Some say: Mr. and Mrs. Jones
(and beneath that, if children invited)
Kevin Jones
Mary Jones
However, if the recipients are aunts, uncles, sisters, grandparents or very close friends, does it appear too "stiff" to be that formal? For these guests, should you use:
Aunt Mary and Uncle John
If either one may be used, how do we decide? We want very much to be proper--but not "hoity-toity." If it is relevant, this is a semi-formal morning garden wedding.
You are so kind to answer my questions. I very much appreciate your timely and helpful responses.

The reason you find advice that may seem conflicting is because you may use either for those who are close. We use the more formal with guest who are not family or for those with whom we do not use a nic-name: Mr. and Mrs. Jones. When those guests are family or close friends we "could" use: Aunt Mary and Uncle John or Miss Kitty if that is what we always call this person.
This really isn't conflicting advice, as this advice is usually included along with the norm or usual "rule". Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
