Wedding guests are sharing the password to our wedding website
Save the date cards with our wedding website were sent but, since we are having an overseas wedding, guests were told in different ways. Many wedding guests have begun to tell others and share the site and that is not what we would like to happen. Is it inappropriate to send out an email to all who received the information requesting they not share the password to the wedding website or announce our wedding to others?

Dear Nekahaye,
A wedding website is supposed to be open to all eyes, after all it is on the internet. If there is a password to enter your site, you could ask for your guests not to share it in a polite manner. But, the reason to have a site is to share your love story and wedding plans with everyone who would like to visit.
Please note that your registry information should not be on the first page, especially since you included this information on your save the dates.

I do understand that the reason for having a wedding website is to share our love story but I guess I feel off-guard when other people who have either yet to receive the save-the-date card or yet to receive our announcement gets the information from someone else and they get offended because they didn't get the information in the same timeframe as someone else or they had not gotten the announcement from me or my fiance. Therefore, I thought that maybe sending an email to everyone would help us to share our information first before other's receive information second hand. But I did not want to send the email if it would be inappropriate for us to request that people not share our information at this moment.

I think you should be careful about sending email like this. Forwards are dangerous. If it were me, I would let people know by word of mouth that I prefer to keep the information private until I make the announcement personally. Just let them know that you cannot invite everyone and don't want to hurt feelings. But, once something is on the internet you really don't have a lot of privacy.
