My fiance and I have different views on how to make the announcement. I say send save-the-date cards as a reminder so that everyone, including out of town guests can make arrangements. Then send formal invite out closer to the date. He thinks I am wasting money by purchasing save-the-date cards. He says anyone who really wants to be there will not need a reminder, so we should just send out the invitation a little but early. He makes sense, but I know how invites can be lost over a course of months and people have busy lives. I think we both have valid arguments. Any advice?
Denea - Neither of you is right or wrong since sending save the date cards or save the date magnets are a personal preference. Sending a save the date card is great if you are having your wedding on a holiday weekend or over the summer so you can let your guests know that if they want to attend your wedding they should keep that date open. They can also help out of town guests by allowing them to make their travel arrangements ahead of time.
If money is tight you could make the cards yourself using your computer and printer or you could purchase discounted save the date magnets.
You will send out these cards 4 months in advance of your wedding date (2 months prior to sending your formal wedding invitation.) Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
