I currently live in Dallas but have only been living here for about 1 1/2 years. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and that is where I am getting married. I have been working at my current Job for the entire 1 1/2 years and have made some friends at work, we get a long and have lunch together but do not have a relationship outside of work. I feel like I should invite some of the people that I am close to but since the Wedding is so far away I have a feeling that won't be able to make it anyway. Should I invite them even though I'm pretty sure they won't be able to make the trip? Would I be insulting them (especially the ones I have a friendly relationship with) by not inviting them at all? I talk about the wedding all the time with them and how the wedding planning is going. They all know that the wedding will be in Pittsburgh but I don't know if they will be expecting to be invited or not.

Dear Ims,
This really is a personal issue and there is no etiquette involved. Just invite the people you wish to attend and allow them to choose.
