Wording an invitation for a second wedding ceremony
Our son lives abroad and is marrying a lovely local woman in the city where they and her family live. Two weeks later they are coming here and we will be hosting their "American" wedding and reception. The bride's family will not be able to attend.
So, what is the proper wording for:
who issues the invitation
the name of the bride
and do we need to mention that this is their second ceremony?

There is no such thing as a second ceremony so we wouldn't be able to help you word that sort of invitation, sorry. Once a couple is married, they're married. However, if you'd like to host a reception back in the states you would simply word it as you would word a standard reception invitation. The wording has been given on this forum many times. I completely agree. It would be very improper to host a wedding for a married couple.
If they need to marry here to make it legal here, this should be the simple visit to the court house--just some paper work, no ceremony.
The reception is very proper. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Improper, but not illegal, right?
