     Wording invitations to wedding blessing

Hello,

My husband and I eloped two months ago in Las Vegas. We will be blessed by our church in November 2008, amongst family and friends. Following the ceremony will be a small but formal cocktail reception and dance. We will incur all the expenses, how do we word the invitations?

Thank you,

Angel

Angel -

There is some wording for the invitation and more information on the convalidation ceremony here:

Blessing of the Marriage Ceremony

Convalidation Ceremony

Since the blessing of the marriage is typically an informal event you can use informal wording such as:

Susan and Don Smith

Request the pleasure of your company

at the Blessing of their Marriage

Name of Church

Date

Time

and afterwards

Party Location

And, please remember that this is supposed to be a small family affair and not a wedding. Please read more about vow renewal etiquette, which is the same etiquette we use for this type of ceremony.
