addressing invitations to legally separated cousin and wife

My cousin and his wife are legally separated but not divorced yet. Do I have to address invitations with and guest since my cousin has a significant other, even though it would be very hurtful and disrespectful to his wife?

Dear Janebeth,

If your cousin is legally separated and has a significant other, the significant other should be invited. It would be best if you knew the name of the person, but "and guest" would be fine.

Best wishes,
