sending an ex-spouse a wedding invitation

My daughter had a bridal shower and several gifts were given to her whose names are not on the wedding lift. We added some of the names to the list but one of the gifts is from the ex-spouse of the new step-parent. This ex-spouse makes the new parent very uneasy when they are around the person. Is it proper not to send the ex a wedding invitation even though they sent a gift?

Dear Cdickson,

If this person was invited to the shower, then she must be invited to the wedding. If not, then you are not obligated to invite her.

Best wishes,
