     wording, wording and more wording

HI there..

I have NO idea what to do or where to begin..please help.

First we are getting married in Maui, small private, bla bla bla... So I guess I am off the hook for sending out invitations..although we are having a Hawaiian luau the following weekend for our reception. Question.

1. How would I " tastefully" word an announcement / invitation to the reception AND where we have registered??

2. How do I include both sets of parents. My parents (bride) have done most of the " helping out" .This is NOT a traditional gig therefore, I really am not hot on the idea of fancy pants wording.

I just want to say "I Do" Unsure

Thanks for your help!

Firstly, an invitation and an announcement are two different things. Obviously, the announcement is to let everyone know you've been married and should be sent as soon as possible to all you want to tell. Announcements carry no obligation of a gift so you wouldn't mention gift registry on an announcement.

Invitations are to invite guests to the reception however, it is not proper to list gift registry information on a wedding invitation. When wording your invitations you would include the parents if they are hosting, or helping to host. The foramality of the wedding would tell you the style of invitation and wording to use. Please review Wedding Invitation Wording and Etiquette for more information.

To let everyone know about your gift registry either spread the word through family and friends (or if someone asks you what you'd like to receive) or the two of you can get your own personal wedding website (very affordable these days) and include all of your information there. This will help alleviate all of the questions you'll get from "Where's the wedding" (how many times have you had to answer that one already?) to "How do I get to the reception" and more.

Have a beautiful and safe trip.
