     wording of invitation

I'm at a loss for the best way to word our invitation. My parents are paying for most of the wedding, so I was going to follow a traditional format that also included his parents.

Dr. & Mrs. xxxxxx
request ...
their daughter
xxxx xxxxx
to
LT xxxx xxxx
US Navy
son of
Mr. & Mrs. xxxx

However, his mother absolutely hates to be called "Mrs. xxxx," so now I'm unsure of what to do. His suggestion was just to use everyone's first names and ignore everyone's titles. How strange would that sound?? Or he said his mom would be much happier with "Mr. xxxx and Ms. xxxx" ... any thoughts???

Thanks!!

Dear Wording,

I love it! Actually, I have to recommend formal wording because that is what is expected for formal weddings. However, I never address myself as Mrs. Black. Here in California most people are informal. So, I can completely understand. If your wedding is not very formal, there is no problem.

Best wishes,

Thanks so much for your response!

So it sounds like you like Mr. xxx & Ms. xxxx better than first names ... I like that option better b/c it allows my fiance to use his military rank, which is important to him. I'd just never seen a married couple referred to in that way before, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't look too unusual ...

Thanks again.

Either way would work. More people are using their first names these days, unless it is formal event.

It will be fine.
