My name is Jenn. My father and I have had a pretty tough love and hate relationship. It's very hard for me to find a song that fits us perfectly. Do you have any suggestions. I love my daddy but he's a very cold and complicated person. I need to chose the perfect song . Do you have any suggestions? Any songs come to mind?

How about:
Love Can Build a Bridge - The Judds
I’d gladly walk across the desert With no shoes upon my feet To share with you the last bite Of bread I had to eat I would swim out to save you In your sea of broken dreams When all your hopes are sinkin’ Let me show you what love means
(chorus)
Love can build a bridge Between your heart and mine Love can build a bridge Don’t you think it’s time? Don’t you think it’s time?
I would whisper love so loudly Every heart could understand That love and only love Can join the tribes of man I would give my heart’s desire So that you might see The first step is to realize That it all begins with you and me
(repeat chorus)
When we stand together It’s our finest hour We can do anything, anything Keep believin’ in the power
(repeat chorus)
Love and only love Love and only love
Have I Told You Lately That I Love You - Rod Stewart
When You Say Nothing at All - Allison Krauss
Just the Way You Are - Billy Joel
Daughter's by John Mayer:
I know a girl She puts the color inside of my world But she's just like a maze Where all of the walls all continually change And I've done all I can To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands Now I'm starting to see Maybe it's got nothing to do with me
Fathers, be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers, be good to your daughters too
Oh, you see that skin? It's the same she's been standing in Since the day she saw him walking away Now she's left Cleaning up the mess he made
So fathers, be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers, be good to your daughters too
Boys, you can break You'll find out how much they can take Boys will be strong And boys soldier on But boys would be gone without the warmth from A womans good, good heart
On behalf of every man Looking out for every girl You are the god and the weight of her world
So fathers, be good to your daughters Daughters will love like you do Girls become lovers who turn into mothers So mothers, be good to your daughters too Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

No one said love was easy, and it's hard being as honest as you have regarding your relationship. I'm a firm believer in NO REGRETS, and it's one of the reasons why I feel so strongly about the song below. Maybe this song will be too close for comfort, but then again, maybe it will help bridge the gap. I wish you the best.
Mike & the Mechanics.... In the living years.....
Every generation Blames the one before And all of their frustrations Come beating on your door I know that I'm a prisoner To all my Father held so dear I know that I'm a hostage To all his hopes and fears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Crumpled bits of paper Filled with imperfect thought Stilted conversations I'm afraid that's all we've got You say you just don't see it He says it's perfect sense You just can't get agreement In this present tense We all talk a different language Talking in defense Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye So we open up a quarrel Between the present and the past We only sacrifice the future It's the bitterness that lasts So Don't yield to the fortunes You sometimes see as fate It may have a new perspective On a different date And if you don't give up, and don't give in You may just be O.K. Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye I wasn't there that morning When my Father passed away I didn't get to tell him All the things I had to say I think I caught his spirit Later that same year I'm sure I heard his echo In my baby's new born tears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye Copen Cabana DJ Audio Visual Production providing Custom Wedding Coffee Table Photo Book with DVD Services http://www.knowareland.com
