Looking for a song to sing my daughter on Wedding Day

Hi,

I'm new to your board, and well, my only daughter is getting married in two months and I would like to sing a song to her kind of a mother to daughter song. It doesn't have to be Christian necessarily but something pretty and reflecting of the heart and the love you have for your daughter. I would really appreciate any suggestions, I amm desperate and in serious need of help to find a beautiful song I can sing to her.

Thank you,

Karen

Dear Karen:

I have 2 suggestions for you:

1) In My Daughters Eyes by Martina McBride

2) I Hope You Dance by Leanne Womack

Both are awesome songs and there won't be a dry eye in the house...giaranteed! Enjoy.

You might find a few special songs at wedding music central. They have some songs that can be edited to be sung from a mom to a daughter and have the audio clips and lyrics online here:

Thank you, Leanne Womack's song is just a bit high for my voice but I'll look at the other one. Any other replies are very welcome.

Sincerely,
Karen

I was told it would be inapropriate to sing a song to my daughter at her wedding because it's "to my daughter" and not "for, or about the couple". Would this be unacceptable to do at a wedding? If not, when would be the appropriate time to do it? I'm very new at all of this.

Thank you,
Karen

This song would be best sung at the reception around the time when the special dances are being done such as the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance which are about the individual bride or groom rather than the couple.

You might consider the song by Marc Cohn. If you like the lyrics below, you can always purchase just the song online at one of the online music services. Hope this helps.

Artist: Marc Cohn Lyrics Song: A Song For My Daughter

Just once upon a yesterday
I held you in my arms.
You grew into a little girl
With lovely childhood charms.
Now it seems I only turn around and I see you by his side.
Oh I can't believe my eyes today,
My daughter is a bride.

I guess somehow I always knew
This day would soon be here.
Still I wonder as I look at you what became of all the years.
And no words could ever quite express
The way I feel inside.
Oh I can't believe my eyes today,
My daughter is a bride.

All the laughter and the tear drops,
The sunshine and the rain.
I would re-live every moment dear,
If I could bring them all back again.
And now my love, the time has come
To send you on your way.
So I wish you well and happiness
And the blessings of this day.
And I hope the love I've given you will forever be your guide.

Oh I can't believe my eyes today,
My daughter.
Oh I can't believe my eyes,
My daughter.
Oh my angel and my pride.
My daughter is a bride.
Oh I can't believe my eyes.
Oh I can't believe my eyes.
Oh I can't believe my eyes.
Oooooo ooooo.
Can't believe my eyes.
