I have recently learned that it is a big NO NO to play Wagners Bridal March at a Jewish Wedding. Do you have a suggestion for a song that would sound as nice but be less offensive?

Dear Wedding March Alternatives,
It isn't a no-no for all Jewish ceremonies. Although, Orthodox rabbis may prefer traditional Hebrew music. It is best to discuss this with and ask for suggestions from the rabbi and cantor.

The reason I have been told it is inappropriate for Wagner's Bidal March to be played, is because he was one of Hitlers favorite composers. Apparently it is highly offensive to many Jewish people. I am having a non-denominational ceremony in a hall and I would like to play a piece that would correspond with that. As nice as the Bridal March sounds I don't want to offend anyone as well, I want to maintain a non-religious feel. Any generic music suggestions???

How about "At Last" with Ella Fitzgerald? I know it seems sappy, but it is one of my favorites.
No, I'm not that old. It's just a nice song that shouldn't upset anyone. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Wagner was a known anti-semite. It IS offensive to many Jewish people. Trumpet Voluntary and A Wedding March from MidSummer's Night Dream are equally grand and beautiful. For a softer approach, Pachebel Canon in D and is Air in D by Bach are lovely and popular.
Why not listen to each? Envision which would make you feel the way you want to feel walking down that aisle. Music can soothe. Music can stir the soul!

There is a new bridal processional being used for celebrity weddings in Los Angeles and gaining popularity around the country. An instrumental version of Con Te Partiro is a dramatic entrance for the bride. It is contemporary but very elegant. You can hear a sample here CD1 - Set Your Wedding to Music. There are also some very beautiful contemporary arrangements of the typical classical pieces used for processionals on CD2 "For Your Wedding Ceremony" Barbara & Gloria of Wedding Music Central http://www.weddingmusiccentral.com
