     Father and Daughter dance

My dad and I do love each other, but we've never been really close. It's been kind of like a brother sister relationship between the two of us. My parents were young when they had me, and they never got married. So, my mom has had to play both parents a lot of the times. Which is why I have decided to have my mom give me away, but I still want to dedicate a dance to my dad at the wedding. I'm having a hard time finding something that fits our relationship, because it can't be to "lovey-dovey". Also, my dad's dad has been a big part of my life, he's basically my father, but I can't find a Grandpa and Granddaughter song.

You might consider "A Song for my Daughter" by Ray Allaire.... It's not lovey dovey, but it does express the joy of a father seeing his daughter get married. Perhaps the lyrics might express your dad's personal feelings as well, feelings that he may not possibly be able to express to you.

Just once upon a yesterday I held you in my arms You grew into a little girl with lovely childhood charms Now it seems I only turned around And I see you by his side Oh, I can't believe my eyes today My daughter is a bride I guess somehow I always knew This day would soon be here Still I wonder as I look at you What became of all the years And no words could ever quite express The way I feel inside Oh, I can't believe my eyes today My daughter is a bride All the laughter and the teardrops The sunshine and the rain I would relive every moment, Dear If I could bring them all back again But now, my love, the time has come To send you on your way So I wish you every happiness And the blessings of this day And I hope the love I've given you Will forever be your guide Oh, I can't believe my eyes today My daughter - Oh, I can't believe my eyes My daughter - Oh, my angel and my pride My daughter is a bride

To keep the emotions simple with your dad, you might choose something generic like "It's a Wonderful World". For your grandfather "When I Needed You Most" sounds like it might express your feelings. It is available at weddingmusiccentral.com where you can listen to a sample of the song. Your main tribute, however, seems to be to your mother. You might want to play a new song that was written just for that purpose called "To Be a Woman" which is also available at weddimgmusiccentral.com
