Having a mother son dance if there is not father daughter dance.

I am in a wedding in a few months. The bride lost her father several years ago, and is not having a father daughter dance. Is it appropriate to still have a mother son dance if the groom and his mother really want to?

No it would not be inappropriate and the mother of the groom will appreciate it.
