Music for Mother - Daughter dance at wedding reception?

We're starting to plan our wedding and one of the most fun parts so far has been picking out music to dance to at the reception.

What sort of music is appropriate for a mother - daughter dance? I have no contact with my father and that's not about to change anytime soon. I also feel that because my mother was the one to raise me, and she'll also be "giving me away" at the ceremony, she should be the one to have the honor of dancing with me, rather than an uncle or another male relative.

I'd rather not skip the traditional each dances with parents (he'd dance with his mother, of course), so what would be some good songs for an appropriate mother/daughter dance? Would a fast song or a slow song be more appropriate in this case? I'm willing to go either way.

Thanks in advance! Cool

You're in luck! Just recently we added a new song called 'To Be a Woman' to our website, which was written especially with your situation in mind. You can hear it at weddingmusiccentral.com. (gift song for Mom). It would be a beautiful tribute to her. We also have new songs for the mother/son dance as well. We wrote this song because so many brides found themselves in the same situation as you, and we wanted them to have a song that expressed their feelings of gratitute, respect and love for their mothers at this most important moment of their lives.
