     Step Father / Daughter Dance

Does anyone have any ideas for a song that I can dance to with my step-father? I am 28 years old, and my step-father is giving me away at my wedding. He and my mom have been together for about 8 years, so he wasn't around when I was a kid, the only songs I can find would be more appropriate for a real father or a step-father who has always been around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

THANX!

That is a bit of a toughie! If your stepfather had brought you up and played an integral part in much of your life, I would have reccommended "When I Needed You Most" from weddingmusiccentral.com. But in this scenario, I'd suggest you listen to "What a Blessing You Are in My Life". I'm not sure, but I think the artist is Ronnie Milsap.

There are several things to consider:

1) Your personal relationship with him.... is it close, distant, ambivalent, or what?

2) What type of personality does he have? Is he introverted, extroverted, loves to dance, hates to dance, is comfortable being in the spotlight or would break out in a sweat and freeze during the moment.

Remember, it will be the TWO of you dancing, not just you. Please ask him what his thoughts and feelings are regarding the matter. He might be comfortable with a close waltz, then again maybe not. Not everyone is "touchy - feely". He might prefer to dance with you to the tune of an old rock and roll song.

By chatting with him, you will be able to determine what songs you have in common and assess your comfort levels regarding the dance. Not only that, but he might be able to help you out on the song choice.
