Wedding guests requesting songs at reception

I was at a wedding recently where one of the bridesmaids made a dedication to herself and her boyfriend and the DJ actually announced the dedication using their names. I thought this was a bit rude since it was not her wedding. Am I over-reacting? Just curious! Smile

Dear RL,

Amazing.

You are not over-reacting. Although, it is best not to busy ourselves with critiquing other's manners, it is difficult sometimes.

Her actions were not polite, considerate, or thoughtful. In essence, subverted her friend's wedding for that moment to make it all about her.

It is unfortunate that so many feel that knowing proper etiquette isn't important and many state that they feel that it isn't relevant in our world today. Well, this is one of those teachable moments illustrating why it is.

Best wishes,
