Does anyone know how to put wedding videos online?
Does anyone know how to put my wedding video online?
I have a lot of family and friends outside California and I want them to be able to see my wedding photos and movie online.
I also want to send them a link to the wedding video with the thank you card.
Thanks, Avivit

It depends on how your video was taken. If regular VHS, it will need to be converted to digital video format, and then converted to MPG or AVI format and resized for a website or placed on CD. If using DVD, your video can be up to 4 gigabytes in size. There is a good amount of software on the market that allows you to incorporate both your video plus your photographs and then export as one video. Same rules apply, once complete, you will need to "resize" the viewing format, make it smaller, and choose either mpg or avi file type for placing on the web.
Depending on the connection speed of your friends and family, if they have broadband then it will be faster for them to view the video by downloading or "streaming" to their computer for them to view. If they have dial up, it could take forever, due to file size of the video on the website. For those that have dial up, you might want to consider sending them a cd with the mpg video.
Remember, you have to place your video on your website using your website development software and make a link on a page for it. Good luck! Copen Cabana DJ and Custom Wedding Photo Book Services http://www.knowareland.com

I think you'll be better off having your video put on DVD, and then simply send copies to your friends and family in the mail. If go through all the trouble of having your video converted and minimized into an avi, and then adding a link to the file via a web page, you're going to run into download issues when a friend attempts to view a video file online. Depending on the file size, some people may not be able to download the movie, or see it completely. Also the quality and clarity may suffer.

Hello avivit
I agree with the other posts here and just to add my 2 cents worth, we compress our videos in Final Cut Pro which is pricey software but you can also compress (make smaller for web) in a program called "Toast Titanium" which is much cheaper. once the video is compressed, upload it to your website via "frontpage" if you got a PC or "dreamweaver" if you have mac. and that is about all there is to it. If this is all Greek to you, there are professional "wedding web page" creators out there that you can simply send the file to and they will take care of all the 'compressing' and 'uploading' for you! Good luck. I'm sure your family will love to see it!
