     Friend offered to take photos

First off, thank you all for your time and effort in creating/managing this site!

My best friend since grade school is a proffesional studio photographer and offered to shoot my wedding. Her studio shots are great! But when I had her take the engagement photo the quality left much to be desired. The thing is, my sister in law has informed me that she hired a photographer (professional) as a wedding gift for us.

Do I tell my friend or not? My friend can be there for the pre-wedding pictures (me getting all ready and such) but the other photographer is only available for the ceremony. What should I do?

Dear DaniLee,

It is best to tell your friend about the other photographer and the gift. It might be embarrassing for her to show up and find someone else in her role. Now she can sit back and enjoy the event.

Best wishes,
