My stepson will be getting married in September and is 24. His dad and I were married when he was 13 and we have a pretty good relationship. We will be taking separate pictures with the Groom's side before the wedding and I have several concerns. I’m sure there will be several pictures that will include my husband and his ex-wife without me, which my husband is not that comfortable with. Also, my husband is currently not speaking to his eldest daughter and although she is the wedding party is not on the best of terms with her brother, the Groom. As stepmother of the groom, will I be included in pictures? The Groom’s father and I have a daughter together, who will be the flower girl - so would there typically be a picture of the Groom, his two sisters, father and stepmother? Do the Bride and her mother usually set up the shots or do they leave it to the photographer? Should I ask the Bride about my concerns or just go with the flow (I’ll be hurt if I’m not included in any family pictures, but I’ll get over it).

Communication with your photographer should be your main focus in this situation. If he/she is aware of the situation he/she should try the very best to please both sides. Also there should be plenty of images to choose from so I am sure there is likely to be plenty of images to choose from with a nice mixture of both sides of the families. Be sure to speak with your photographer and be as open with him/her as possible. Best of luck!!

In my opinion the Stepmother should voice her concerns with the daughter which she can then in turn communicate with the photographer. To me it seems like a easy situtation to remedy as long as both sides can communicate and plan it out in advance. best wishes.
