Choosing a wedding date and dealing with disapproval
My fiancé and I have decided on February wedding in Canada based on many many considerations; when I’m to finish school, when our home is scheduled to be done, the beginning of Lent, etc. I think a winter wedding can be beautiful, never mind the savings to be had. However, everyone we announce the date to cringes thinking about the cold Canadian winter. How do I politely deal with this disapproval and make everyone understand that it is the right date for us?
Thank you

What's that old song that goes, "You can't please everyone, so, you have to please yourself"...? I bet we'll all have that in our heads for the rest of the day now!
I think this is great advice! Just smile and thank them for their opinion, saying you hope they can make it. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I agree. We all have to plan for what is best for us and our circumstances. Our plans can't always mesh well with others'. The end result may be that many won't be able to attend your wedding though. So, please keep this in mind.

I agree. It's clear that you have a multitude of good reasons for choosing your wedding month - keep a good sense of humor and don't concern yourself with others' opinions. Shayna Walker, Williamsburg Wedding Design http://www.williamsburgweddingdesign.com
