     Engagement Party Ritual

Hi,

We are having a Catholic Wedding.

My Fiance's parents are throwing an engagement Party for us, and we are not sure whether we should have a ritual or not at the party.

Basically we are not sure what is the sequence of the party, what we should do besides having drinks hors d'oeuvres and Dinner.

I've read that we should have a priest and have him bless us, but we don't like the idea so much, although we are not sure if that is what is expected.

Thank you,

Regards,

Dear Bbq,

I've not heard of this. This is just supposed to be a party to inform people of your engagement. It isn't a party that has a lot of rules, except that all guests are also wedding guests. Also, it is not supposed to be thought of as a gift giving event.

There is no sequence of events or expectations except that the host provides what guests would expect to be fed at the time of the event.

Best wishes,
