Friend not in bridal party

I have a friend that ended up not in the bridal party and she is upset. I would like her to play an important part in the wedding. Can you please make some suggestions? Thanks

Your friend would probably be honored to do a reading during the ceremony or she can serve as hostess and pass out programs.
