How close is too close (wedding dates)?

My fiance and I got engaged in December 2005, and decided to get married this year. His cousin and his fiance got engaged before us last year and are also planning a 2006 wedding. I talked to her about venues and dates before I started booking - my goal was for august (and I didn't want to call any of her venues)- but unfortunatly all venues I was interested in were full until September. I tentativley booked a place and let her know the one that I wanted - in Sept. She told me that she had not yet started looking but wanted to do it in October. She said that this way okay with her. I have now since firmly booked - deposits and everything. She is still thinking about October, but has not planned anything, she says she is ok, but I worry I stepped infront of her, and feel like some in my fiance's family are a little upset (even though we are all friends). Was this inconsiderate? I probalby would have waited if she had anything set, but she dosent, and hasent even started her plans so I thought it would be okay - was this wrong? Is it enough that I didn't call any of the venues she was thinking about and made sure that our colours were different or should i have waited?

Dear Wants to be Considerate,

You did nothing wrong. You contacted her to make sure that your date and venues were fine with her. This is very considerate. She had a very long time to make her plans. Plus, you gave her first preference of sites.

Sleep guilt free.

Best wishes,
