How far apart should family weddings be scheduled

My fiance's cousin also got engaged about 2 weeks earlier than us and is planning a wedding either the last weekend in Sept. or first in Oct. What is the etiquette on how far apart we should plan from them? We want either an end of Aug. or first weekend in Sept. wedding - is that too close? Is it rude to not plan around them?

Dear Asd,

There really is no mandate on this. It is more of an approximation. Typically, we wouldn't want to schedule a wedding within two months (give or take) of someone who would have many of the same guests on her list. There will always be exceptions, so there can't be an exact amount of days.

More than likely your wedding would be affecting hers. It is difficult to know at this point.

Just use common sense and common courtesy when planning your wedding.

Best wishes,
