Hello - I'm newly engaged and just beginning the wedding planning process. Since my schedule is extremely busy, I am contemplating hiring a wedding planner. My budget is not enormous. Is there a minimum budget that wedding planners expect to work with (apart from their fee, i mean). I don't want to start contacting planners only to have them laugh. Similarly, I don't want my wedding to get the shaft simply because the planner has bigger, more extravagant weddings to plan. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: [anon312] How much to pay a wedding planner?

There are three different ways that wedding planners usually charge: flat fee, percentage of your budget (usually 15%) and by the hour for varying levels of service. Some planners do choose to only work with couples who have a minimum wedding cost. The best way to find out what is the going rate in your area is to simply call or email and check around for the type of service you desire.
A seasoned wedding consultant will be of tremendous help to you, and know how to get the most out of the money you want to spend.
