Including Step Parents in the Wedding

My step father has raised me since I was two years old and I am his only child. My biological father is also a part of my life. I really want my step father to feel important and I think he would like to be the one to walk me down the aisle. I am going to have two father-daughter dances at the reception, one for each of them. Is there anything I can do just for my step father to make him feel like he is an important part of my wedding?

Perhaps you could allow your step father to read a poem, scripture, perform a solo (if he sings) or something special along those lines during the actual wedding ceremony. It may not sound like much, but because of the intimacy a wedding ceremony symbolizes, it really would be an endearing gesture.Smile

He can also bestow a personal parting blessing for the two of you. On a more private note, on the night before the wedding, you can give him a personal letter telling him how you feel about him, thanking him for all that he has done for you. Let him know what he has contributed to your life. In the privacy of this letter, you can tell him just how much you appreciate him and his efforts on your behalf.

Blessings!

I love all of these ideas and I think your stepfather will too. All most parents really want is to have their efforts realized and recognized.

Having a family unity candle ceremony is another way to bring the family together and include everyone.

Best of Luck,
